When do hot air balloon flights take place in Rwanda?
Our flights typically take place early in the morning, just before sunrise. This is when the winds are calmest and the views are most beautiful. Flights are scheduled daily but are subject to weather conditions.
Where do the balloon rides take place?
Flights are usually conducted near Akagera National Park or over scenic valleys close to Kigali. The exact take-off location may vary depending on wind and weather conditions.
How long does the balloon ride last?
The actual flight lasts between 45 minutes to 1 hour. Including hotel transfers, breakfast, the flight, and post-flight celebration, the entire experience takes approximately 3 to 4 hours.
Is it safe?
Absolutely. Safety is our top priority. Royal Balloon Rwanda operates with professionally trained pilots and uses equipment that meets international safety standards. Regular inspections are carried out.
What happens if the flight is canceled due to weather?
If your flight is canceled due to weather, we will try to reschedule it for another day depending on availability. If rescheduling is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
What is included before and after the flight?
We offer a light pre-flight breakfast and a post-flight celebration in traditional Rwandan style, including a commemorative flight certificate.
What should I wear?
We recommend comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. It can be cool in the early morning, so bringing a light jacket or sweater is a good idea.
Is there an age limit?
Children must be at least 6 years old to fly. There is no upper age limit, but passengers must be able to stand for the duration of the flight and get in and out of the basket on their own.
How many people can fit in a balloon?
Our balloons typically carry between 8 and 16 passengers. We limit the number of guests to ensure a comfortable and spacious experience for everyone.
